What is Hoodoo Rootwork?
Hoodoo, also known as Rootwork and Conjure, is African-American folk-magic, which originally flourished primarily in the Southeastern United States of America. Rootwork has its roots in Africa, likely from the Congo. It's now practiced all over North America, and some parts of Africa and Europe, by practitioners of all races.

I'm a Christian. Is Hoodoo Christian?
Don't worry! The vast majority of Hoodoo Rootworkers throughout history have been Christians. Some even call Moses "de Conjure Man o' de Bible." Hoodoo has traditionally relied on the recitation of Psalms and other prayers to God, Jesus, Mary, and the Saints. There is nothing anti-Christian about Hoodoo at all. Hoodoo is not a religion, so people of all religions can benefit from its powerful healing!
I'm a Pagan. Is Hoodoo Pagan?
While many of its practitioners are and have historically been Christians, this does not make Hoodoo an exclusively Christian practice. I, myself, am not a Christian. If the use of Psalms, prayers to God, Jesus, Mary and the Saints, and any other Christian elements make you uncomfortable, there are many other options for Hoodoo spellwork that don't call on these forces. In fact, many Pagans have recently turned their eyes on Hoodoo and realized what a practical and efficacious system of folk magic it is! Hoodoo is not a religion, nor the exclusive domain of any religion.
